Where is the ice full sensor of the flake ice machine?

The ice full sensor of a flake ice machine (also known as ice full switch) is usually installed on the inner top wall of the ice storage bin or below the ice outlet of the evaporator.

The specific positions and types are as follows, which you can identify according to the machine structure:

Micro Switch Type (with probe rod / ice baffle)This is the most common type. A hanging rectangular plastic baffle or a metal probe rod is mounted on the upper part of the ice storage bin. When ice accumulates to a certain height and pushes up the baffle or probe rod, the built-in micro switch will be triggered, and the machine will stop ice making immediately.

Photoelectric Type (Infrared Induction)Two protruding black or transparent plastic sensor heads (through-beam photoelectric sensors) are installed on both sides of the ice bin opening or ice falling channel. When accumulated ice blocks the infrared beam, the machine will shut down automatically.

Evaporator Body Induction (Screw-type Flake Ice Machine)Large screw or drum-type flake ice machines generally have no sensors extending into the ice storage bin. Their sensors are mounted inside the evaporator cylinder or on the reducer bracket. It works by detecting the resistance of the ice scraper: when ice clogs the ice outlet and increases the torque of the scraper, the machine will stop automatically (similar to pressure induction).

Tips for locating the sensor

Follow the channel leading from the evaporator (cylindrical or square ice-making structure) to the ice storage bin. There are usually two thin wires running from the back or side of the machine into the ice bin, and the sensor is located at the end of these wires.

Notes

If the machine displays "Ice Full" while the ice storage bin is empty, the sensor may be covered with dust. You can troubleshoot by cleaning the sensor or manually toggling it.
